Chuggington????

I had never heard of Chuggington until I was asked to make a cake for a friends little boy who was turning 5 (this is the 4th cake I have made in the last few months for a child turning 5).  Any who the mom was going to buy some trains for her little boy, and we decided to incorporate those into the cake instead of me making trains out of fondant.  Made "dirt" out of smashed up cookies and tried to make it as boyish as possible.  Purposely made the tracks not perfect to look like it was older.    I made this with a sugar free chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream.

Toy Story!!!!

Once again I sound like a broken record, but these were fun cake sot make.  One was a white cake and the other devils food.  They were for 2 sweet 5 year old twin brothers!  One liked Buzz Lightyear, and the other liked Woody.  The mom of the boys had little buzz and woody toys to put on the top which made them even more adorable, but I don't have those pics.  Enjoy!

Minnie Mouse~~~

Fun cake to make, but started to get worried I was in a little over my head.  It turned out, but my kids were NUTS when I was trying to work on it.  Each of the 3 layers had a layer of white and a layer of devils food, and iced with vanilla butter cream.

Happy Birthday to my Sweet Girl

For some reason 5 years old just really seemed old to me this year.  I couldn't believe my first born was actually that old.  That is school age!  She has brought so much joy to our lives.  She is a determined girl that knows what she wants, but has such a sweet heart about her and doesn't like when others are treated unfairly.

I asked her what kind of cake she wanted, and for months it was Strawberry Shortcake.  I had to do the Butterfly cake the same weekend and was a little stressed, but my kids cakes come first.  Last minute she decided she wanted a hello kitty cake.  I was ECSTATIC because Hello Kitty is WAY easier than Strawberry Shortcake.  I worked and worked and got it done when she was asleep, and when she woke up on her birthday I brought her in to see it and she says "I really wanted strawberry shortcake".  I just about burst into tears.  I felt bad she didn't get what she wanted, but I asked her over and over again and hello kitty it was......sigh........kids they get you every time.

Graduating with a Masters Degree is a reason to CELEBRATE

This cake was really fun to make.  It was for a friend that I met years ago at church, and then didn't see for quite a few years.  She was graduating with her masters and wanted a fun trendy class beautiful cake that incorporated butterflies.  I had about 50 ideas she had some ideas, and this is what I ended up doing.  I told her I would just surprise her with whatever I deiced to do after looking at all the pictures.  She loved it.  She made my day because she just loved it so much!

Happy Birthday Mom

After my cake class I figured I should try to use my flower making skills on a cake.  My mom has always liked yellow roses, so that is what I went with.  No fondant, just butter cream frosting and flowers.  Nothing fancy, not my best work ever, but she liked it :)

M & M Girl~

This was such a FUN cake to make.  My girls were at the table while I was working on it, making thier own fondant creations.  They loved to watch as I added the lips, eyes etc, until it turned into a "girl".  FUN TIMES!  This was a 2 layer white and devils food cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.   OK, well luck would have it that my camera battery just died, and for whatever reason I don't have this one saved on my thumb drive.  I will post pics later.

Oh Blog how could I do this to you????

Well the truth is, that life just got in the way........I haven't posted since NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!  Goodness.  I have still been baking cakes, baking my butt off (although it is still there) but I have not been posting them.  Life has been hectic and other things became more important, you know like my kids and husband :)  HOWEVER I am hoping to get all of my cakes that I have done since November posted in the next couple of days.
