Go Blackhawks

My nephew asked me for a "hockey cake" for his bday cake.  Side note that I LOVE to get to make cakes for my niece and nephews!!!!!  Anyways he plays hockey and his jersey is a black hawks jersey so I looked on line for some pics.  I found a REALLY cool Zamboni cake, but he wanted the cake to look like his jersey.  I had to do some icing work, which is sometimes tricky for me, but it turned out pretty well.  I knew when my younger brother kept looking and looking at it and asked how I did it, that it must have looked ok :)

I also had to share this pic of my nephew and I with his bday hat from the restaurant!  Not sure where he gets that silliness :)

Happy Birthday to my baby girl~!

I can NOT believe that my baby is turning 3!  Seems so old :)  She had asked me for and "April cake" every time I asked her what kind of cake she wanted mama to make.  Every time I made a cake the month of her birthday she asked me if it was for her!  I would say you need to tell me what kind of cake you want and she would say " I already told you, I want and April cake".  I never did find out what an "April cake" looks like, but we went with a giant cupcake and smaller "3" cupcakes.......I loved it, and she thought it was really neat too :)

M-I-C-K-E-Y- M-O-U-S-E MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE

This cake was actually a referral from a friend, I had never met the woman.  I talked to her on the phone, and over text and then dropped off the cake at her work, and never actually saw her face to face.......not even 100% sure I got her name right.  So it is sort of like a mystery.  It was a request for her little guy who was turning three, and his theme was MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE.  I am a mom so one would think I know what this is, but I didn't.  Another time that I am sooooooo thankful for the internet :)

Happy First Birthday Isabelle

I LOVE getting to do first bday cakes!  I just remember those days with my girls and how much fun they were.  This layered cake had a regular sized cupcake on top for the birthday girl!

Woof Woof

I had a request for a dog cake..........the shape isn't the best ever but I love the pink floppy ears and the dog bowl with food (aka kix cereal).

WEDDING CAKE

I have to admit that doing this wedding cake gave me wedding day jitters just like when I got married........all the planning and preparing all for this very day.  I was nervous but excited!  Not 100% sure about the bride and groom, but for me that day went over with out a hitch.  It was soooooo much fun!  The baking all went perfectly and setting up went great.  My best friend went with me to help set up and we had a fun time hanging out.  Such a wonderful experience and Ashlee the bride was WONDERFUL to work with.

Wedding cake........pre flowers

4 tiered wedding cake with red and purple flowers.  White layers with vanilla butter cream, and one chocolate layer with vanilla butter cream.
Flowers on the top of the cake
 View from the top
Table cloths were supposed to be off white, but I am guessing there was a problem.......I think it just made the cake show up better

Cupcake centerpieces, with purple flowers and red rose petals from the florist

Massive Cake Post

So once again life has gotten in the way of my blogging.......not my baking......just my blogging about it :)  I have still been pretty busy with cakes, and really hope that continues.  Found out earlier this month that my job has been eliminated so after the end of the month......I don't have a job!  Hopefully cakes will pick up and keep me busy :)

So here is just a quick snap shot of my last few months in cakes :)

Purse cake for a "girl party" that my mom and her friends were having.......

Just for fun I tried to make a zebra cake......makes me wanna go on a safari adventure :)

.......the Millennium Falcon.  A friend asked me to make this for her husband who is a HUGE STAR WARS  fan.  Had to get lots of info from my hubby.....who is also a STAR WARS fan :)

Bridal Shower fun.  I have a wedding that I am doing and the made of honor emailed and asked if i could make bridal shower cakes ( I made a cake like this for my now SIL's shower and they really liked it).  The wedding colors are red, silver and purple so I went with these.

My sister in law likes to garden so when my brother wanted me to make a cake and suggested gardening.....I knew just what I wanted to do.  The veggies are all made out of different kinds of candy!

My husband wanted to know why i put a cross and tombstone in the garden......he didn't realize it was a shovel.
Pea pods were my favorite!

Toy Story 3 cake for a sweet little girl.  VERY fun cake to make!

Lastly a BMW.  Certainly not my favorite cake but not bad for my first attempt at a car cake.......hopefully do better on my second attempt :)

The cat and the hat knows alot about that........Cat in the hat "HAT"  cake for a 3 year old who loves the show on PBS

Chuggington????

I had never heard of Chuggington until I was asked to make a cake for a friends little boy who was turning 5 (this is the 4th cake I have made in the last few months for a child turning 5).  Any who the mom was going to buy some trains for her little boy, and we decided to incorporate those into the cake instead of me making trains out of fondant.  Made "dirt" out of smashed up cookies and tried to make it as boyish as possible.  Purposely made the tracks not perfect to look like it was older.    I made this with a sugar free chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream.

Toy Story!!!!

Once again I sound like a broken record, but these were fun cake sot make.  One was a white cake and the other devils food.  They were for 2 sweet 5 year old twin brothers!  One liked Buzz Lightyear, and the other liked Woody.  The mom of the boys had little buzz and woody toys to put on the top which made them even more adorable, but I don't have those pics.  Enjoy!

Minnie Mouse~~~

Fun cake to make, but started to get worried I was in a little over my head.  It turned out, but my kids were NUTS when I was trying to work on it.  Each of the 3 layers had a layer of white and a layer of devils food, and iced with vanilla butter cream.
